Day 103
Zero miles!
Drove up to Cascade Locks for the first day of Trail Days
Instead of walking many miles today, we drove many miles! It is hard to fathom how we drove in three hours (ish) what it will take us about a week to hike. It was hard to sit still in one place for three hours and it was a strange feeling to be driving after not for four months.
We knew we had arrived in Cascade Locks when we saw the crowds of people. On a usual day, Cascade Locks has a very small population. Today it has surged with hundreds of hikers, gear company people, and tourists. Kevin and I drove us here with Pebbles and Shuffles. We have seen a few people we haven’t seen in quite a few miles here at trail days. We wanted to get here early enough for Sawyer’s (a gear company for water filters), we got caught in traffic but still went to their booth to check if we had missed their trivia give away because we had studied for their trivia questions! Sadly, we missed the giveaway but one employee still told us the trivia questions to see if our studying paid off. In the end, they gave all of us t-shirts and filters! Sawyer is one of the most generous and supportive gear companies! We were going to buy new filters anyways but we’re so grateful for their generosity.
